Antique Carved Teakwood Wooden Door with Ganesha Panel (Rare find)
Antique Carved Teakwood Wooden Door with Ganesha Panel (Rare find)
Arch-top tympanum (semicircular panel) features a relief carving of Lord Ganesha surrounded by stylized foliage and floral scrolls.
Ganesha is depicted in traditional seated posture with four arms, one raised in blessing (abhaya mudra).
This kind of iconography is typical in pre-partition Hindu homes of Sindh and Gujarat, especially in merchant or Vaishnav households.
The door itself is double-leaf, framed by rectangular carved panels with decorative iron rivets and studs placed symmetrically.
Faint outlines of scalloped arch carving on the door leaves add Mughal-style flair.
The door is painted in a now-weathered turquoise/green pigment, historically considered auspicious and protective.
