Antique Balcony Railing

Rectangular cast-iron panel ca. 1900-1925 (late colonial period) with an oval, diamond-lattice medallion at center framed by paired C-scrolls and ring motifs. Symmetrical borders terminate in short tenons/lugs for seating into a top and bottom rail. 

Cities such as Karachi, Calcutta and Bombay popularized cast-iron railings and grilles in the 19th–early 20th century; this technology and style spread across the region.
